You should also remember that sunlight can fade the color of the fabric. Therefore, for a room that is exposed to constant sunlight, it is better to avoid choosing a light color of fabric because the color fades faster; and choose a more neutral color (like ivory).

There are fabric materials that can warm/cool the room. Many hotels use suede or velvet as a curtain material because these materials can block light and warm the room.
